Charities, community organisations and good causes are welcome to ask our lovely freeglers for volunteers. If you'd like to add one, click here. | | | | | | | Maker/Repairer/Recycler/Hobbyists who mourn the absence of a shed | The Circulatory - beside Berrylands Station. | Finding a decent place to do a bit of pottering a challenge? Fancy somewhere out of family clutches? There's a brand new reuse centre sprung up in a beautiful warehouse next to Berrylands Station run by local charity Save the World Club (the mosaic Mural makers). "The Circulatory" comes equipped with tools, materials, artifacts, bicycles and a thousand items saved from landfill to have fun with... If you like the idea of a little retreat from the hectic world outside, then call me On 07962 231 830 to arrange a visit. | | | | | Time commitment: As long or as short as you please. | | | Freegle needs a UX geek | Online | There are some places on the site where we could use a volunteer who has professional UX skills. If you're not sure what UX is, you're lovely, but that's not you :-). The best example is the function we have to indicate your availability, to allow two freeglers to agree a date/time to meet up. If you've not seen that, you can access it from the Settings page. If both parties have filled out info, then we can help you speed up the process of agreeing a collection time. This is a tricky problem - if you have broad time slots (like we do) then they don't work for some people; if you have lots of flexibility then it becomes complicated and off-putting for others. We'd like to have something that felt really nice and simple, but still allowed enough flexibility, and we don't know how to do that. Classic UX issue. Can you do UX? Help make Freegle better! | | | | | Time commitment: As much as you like! | | | Freegle needs a CSS geek | Online | We're working on a new version of the website, written in Nuxt (a VueJS variant) and Bootstrap 4. Initially this will look broadly similar to the current one, though it'll be nicer in quite a few ways, and have some improvements (e.g. for posting multiple items). Later on it will evolve. We could do with some design/CSS expertise - we can muddle through in that area but none of us are brilliant at it. Someone who knew what they were doing could polish some things in minutes that might take us hours. You can find the codebase at https://github.com/Freegle/iznik-nuxt . That has basic intructions on how to get a development environment up and running. If you do that, find a TODO DESIGN in the code, fix it and generate a pull request then you've got the skills we need. You can also contact us at volunteers@ilovefreegle.org. | | | | | Time commitment: A few days spread over a chunk of elapsed time. Freegle is registered as a charity with HMRC (ref. XT32865) and is run by volunteers. Which is nice. | | | |
