Welcome to Freegle Kingston.
Thanks for being a part of The Freegle Network. This message is sent to all subscribers upon joining, and periodically thereafter to the entire list.
Freegle Kingston matches people who have things they need to get rid of with people who can use them. Our goal is to keep usable items out of landfill.
By using what we already have on this earth, we reduce consumerism, manufacture fewer goods, and lessen our impact on the planet.
Another benefit of using Freegle is that it encourages us to get rid of junk that we no longer need and promotes community involvement in the process.
Your local charity shops are another great way of re-using things.
Set up on 24th September 2009, the Kingston Freegle group is a branch of an incredibly fast-growing UK Freegle movement, which was created to cater specifically for the UK.
Please help this group grow by spreading the word.
If you've read the rules and haven't found an answer to your question, you can reach the Freegle Kingston moderators at:

USING THE FREEGLE LIST - http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freegle-kingston/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) POSTING
Once you've read these rules and you feel ready to send a post to the group, click on "Post" on the left-hand menu at the Freegle Kingston web site.
Or just e-mail it to Freegle-kingston@yahoogroups.co.uk
(2) MANAGING YOUR SETTINGS
To manage your membership settings (including email delivery options and unsubscribing), visit the group site and click "Edit Membership" which appears just above the dark blue bar towards the top of the page.
(3) READING MESSAGES
To read previous posts (especially helpful for new members who may find recent posts of interest there), visit the main page of the group site and click on "Messages" on the left.
(4) UNSUBSCRIBING
To unsubscribe, send an email to Freegle-kingston-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk or click on "Edit Membership".
You'll find a button marked "Leave Group" in the bottom left-hand corner of the page. Click it and follow the directions that appear.
You will get an email which you will need to act on as a security measure.
(5) SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR POSTS.
The subject lines of your post should have 3 parts: OFFERED or WANTED or TAKEN or RECEIVED, the name of the item, your location (or the first half of your post code)
For example: OFFERED Sofa KT2
When you have placed a wanted and someone has kindly supplied you with that item, please let the rest of the group know:
e.g. RECEIVED: Sofa KT2
When you have placed an offered and someone has taken that item, please let the rest of the group know:
e.g. TAKEN: Sofa KT2
(6) WANTED POSTS/REPLIES FOR GOODS TO BE SOLD ON
If you've placed a WANTED for an item, or replied to an OFFERED, with the intention of selling that item on, you must make this clear in your post/reply. Failing to do so may constitute grounds for being banned from the group.
(7) RESPONSES GO ONLY TO OFFERER'S EMAIL ADDRESS, NOT THE WHOLE GROUP.
It keeps down the sheer number of emails.
(8) PICK-UP.
Arrange as you like, you are free to choose who you gave an offered item to.
Arrange pick-up with one person only rather than, "It's on the porch, whoever gets here first can have it,".
Only give your phone number to one person at a time, or ask for the recipient's phone number, in order to avoid being swamped with phone calls.
(9) NO-SHOWS
Please bear in mind that when you agree to collect an item the person offering that item will be waiting for you, and may well have put off doing something else to accommodate you.
Members who fail to turn up to collect should be reported to the moderators (see e-mail address at the bottom of this document).
Members who repeatedly fail to turn up are likely to be banned from the group.
(10) AND FINALLY...
Be nice. We've got a great little community here, so when you arrange to pick up an item from another Freegle member it is basic good manners to accommodate them as much as possible
in terms of arranging, and then be punctual. They are, after all, giving you something you need and asking nothing in return except that you show up when you say you will.
