FREEGLE KINGSTON RULES & ETIQUETTE
----------------------------------------------------------------

A certain structure makes the group run smoothly and effectively for everyone's benefit.
The success of this group depends on all of us, and that means each of us needs to do our best to keep to the rules and be pleasant and patient with other posters. Enjoy your membership.

Members who break any combination of the rules 3 times will be removed.

(1) KEEP IT FREE, LEGAL AND APPROPRIATE FOR ALL AGES.
This means for example, no alcohol, tobacco or weapons. Two strikes and you're out of the group.

(2) CORRECT SUBJECT LINE
The subject lines of your post should have 3 parts: OFFERED or WANTED or TAKEN or RECEIVED, the name of the item, your location (or the first half of your post code). E.g. OFFERED sofa KT2

(3) NO REPEAT WANTEDs
Do not post WANTEDs for the same item more than once every 31 days.

(4) NO MEDICINES
Even unopened medicines should not be offered because they are probably specific to one person.

(5) NO OPENED ITEMS
For safety reasons, do not offer any item that can be either taken or applied to the skin if the manufacturer's seal has been broken. This applies to cosmetics, tablets, lotions, any food, used medical equipment such as blood-glucose testers, syringes, etc.

(6) NO VOUCHERS, TICKETS ETC
No vouchers, tickets, services, announcements, requests for accommodation or similar 'intangibles', post them instead on the nearest Freegle cafe, which is currently Richmond's at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Richmond_Cafe/
Please don't ask for videos of TV programmes you've missed either, as that doesn't keep anything out of landfill.

(7) NO POSTS FOR ANIMALS OR PETS
In the files section of our website you will find links to some animal re-homing websites.

(8) NO CROSS-POSTING TO OTHER FREEGLE GROUPS.
Feel free to belong to two or three local Freegle groups. Do not post about an item to more than one group in 48 hours.
If you get no responses after 48 hours, then post on an alternate group.

(9) NO WANTEDS FOR HIGH VALUE ITEMS
Do not ask for extravagant items like high-capacity memory cards, Sat Navs, the latest games consoles or phones, iPods, high-spec laptops or plasma/LCD TVs etc.

(10) NO TRADING, BORROWING, LOANS, SWAPS, ETC
Intangible requests can be posted at the nearest Freegle cafe, which is currently Richmond's at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Richmond_Cafe/

(11) NO LINKS TO WEBSITES
Links to websites are not allowed in posts, unless they are simply to show a picture of an item.

(12) NO POLITICS, NO SPAM, NO MONEY, NO PERSONAL ATTACKS/RUDENESS.
Two strikes and you are out.

(13) NO ADVERTISING FOR JUMBLE SALES OR MONEY-RAISING EVENTS
No advertising your jumble sale as you're looking for money.
No requests for money to be given to charities in return for items offered on Freegle. Links to sites asking for donations to or sponsorship for charities are also banned.

(14) SOFTWARE, DVDs, VIDEOTAPES AND OTHER MEDIA
Software and other forms of media (CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, printed materials and other such things) fall under copyright agreements. The rules for these sorts of items are as follows:

(A) SOFTWARE
The software being exchanged has to be the original software, not a copy.
It can no longer be used by any previous owner and must not have been used to get an upgrade.
Any transfer of software must follow the terms in its End User License Agreement (EULA).
If the EULA makes no mention of transfers or exchanges, treat the software like you would any other work protected by copyright.

(B) MUSIC, VIDEOS, BOOKS AND OTHER COPYRIGHTED WORKS
These must be originals, not copies, and they can no longer be used by any previous owner.

The points mentioned above are not just Freegle policies, but are LAWS pertaining to copyright.
If you do have software you no longer use, and it is both uninstalled and meets EULA requirements for transfer, please feel free to post an OFFER.

If you need to contact the group moderators at any time then email them at:
