MANAGING FREEGLE MESSAGES
Here are the three main methods of keeping your mailbox nice and tidy whilst not missing out on all that Freegle goodness.

A) KEEP YOUR INBOX TIDY BY GIVING FREEGLE MESSAGES THEIR OWN FOLDER
For those that don't know, with most mail software it's possible (and easy) to set up Mail Filters (a.k.a. Mail Rules) to deliver mail to a different folder in your mailbox based on certain criteria (such as the address it was sent from or words contained in the subject line). This means that your Freegle mail doesn't get all mixed up with your other inbox messages but stays happily in its own folder.

In Thunderbird:
Creating new folders: Having highlighted your Inbox in the panel to the left of the screen, right-click and choose 'New Folder...'
You could call this folder "Freegle".
Then have a look at the list of headings across the top of the window Thunderbird is in to set up the new rules/filters: Tools > Message Filters >New
Most people opt to have e-mails whose "Subject" line contains the word "Freegle" moved to their new Freegle folder.

In Microsoft Outlook/Express:
Creating new folders: With your mouse clicked on the Inbox, right-click and choose 'New Folder...'
Setting up rules/filters: Tools > Message Rules > Mail

In Yahoo Email:
You can set up a new folder there instead. Sign in to your Yahoo e-mail account and click on "Options" towards the top-right corner of the page. Towards the bottom of that page, you'll see "Filters". Click on it, and then click on the "Add" button. You can make your "Filter Name" Freegle and set the rule to: "From header: contains Freegle (there's no need to match case). Finally, under "Then", "Move the message to: New Folder". Hit "Add Filter" (bottom left of the page) and the system will prompt you to name the new folder – you could call it Freegle. Now, all your Freegle e-mails should head straight for that folder.

B) RECEIVE DIGESTS (OF APPROX. 25 MESSAGES EACH) INSTEAD OF INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES
If you have a Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Groups account that you've used to register with Freegle Kingston, visit the Freegle Kingston group web site (http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freegle-kingston/), log in and click 'Edit Membership' which is just above the dark blue bar towards the top of the page. Read down to the heading 'Message Delivery' and select 'Daily Digest'. You will receive one email per approximately 25 messages.

C) READ FREEGLE MESSAGES ONLINE INSTEAD OF HAVING THEM EMAILED TO YOU
If you have a Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Groups account that you have used to register with Freegle Kingston, visit the group homepage, log in and click 'Edit Membership'. Read down to the heading 'Message Delivery' and select 'Special Messages'. DO NOT select 'No email', as it is mandatory that all Freegle group members receive at least these 'Special Messages' for when the Moderators need to make announcements.

Now you can read your messages online by visiting the group homepage and clicking 'Messages'.
